CLICK HERE TO Cruise around Steep Holm Island then land on FLAT HOLM ISLAND

A day visit to Flat Holm will give you around 5/7 hours on the island, where visitors can purchase a self guided tour pack, providing a unique opportunity to discover Flat Holm's wildlife and historic buildings. Guided tours will be available on certain dates. There will be a chance to relax and enjoy the island's atmosphere with a cup of tea or coffee and a chance to visit the well stocked souvenir shop selling monoculars and caps, fair-trade snacks and drinks and a range of souvenirs for you to buy as a momento of your island experience.

Our sailings sometimes include a free cruise round Steep Holm Island but only if time and tides permit? The best of Steep Holm and many of the wartime installations can now only be viewed from the sea as many of the access ways have rotted away. The cruise around the Island includes unique views of the 200ft sheer cliffs along with the sea caves and gull colonies. You will also see one of the largest cormorant colonies in the South West of England. Sometimes shell duck and seals can also be seen. We occasionally run a special cruise just around Steep Holm Island, please check the Sailing schedule for details.

Our visits to Flatholm Island from Weston and Cardiff run from all year round. For bookings please go the the booking form where we  have a Paypal facility for on-line bookings or just send in a cheque in the usual way to book in advance. For further information please  contact the Bookings line on 01934 636734.

WHAT TO BRING?

It is a good idea to have sensible walking shoes, a waterproof coat in case of a shower or occasional sea spray. The Westward Ho does have a covered saloon with a toilet but if fully booked not everybody can get in to the saloon. There are snacks and drinks available to buy on the island but these are limited to Crisps, chocolate, cans and bottles. Please note that there are no sit down menus or home cooked food so you are advised to bring a decent packed lunch or picnic with you on the day trip to the Islands.

Flatholm Island Fishing Trips

Flatholm Island has some of the best fishing grounds in the Bristol Channel with its position in the Channel and shelving rocky ledges, shingle beaches and sheer cliffs to fish from. To enquire about our special fishing trips please call 01934-636734 for further information.

A ONE HOUR CRUISE ALONG THE BREAN DOWN PENINSULA AND AROUND WESTON BAY

During the summer months we also offer a limited schedule of pleasure cruises from Weston’s Knightstone Harbour along the Somerset  Coastline and Brean Down Peninsula viewing the historic Fortress on the Down’s Western end. The cruise then goes out into the Channel passing both Steep Holm and Flat Holm at a distance and then back into Sand Bay taking in a close view of Weston’s historic Old Pier and now disused Steamer Jetty. After making a close pass of Anchor Head the cruise then returns to Harbour.
